Children and young people

Children and Young People of all ages and in all families sometimes need to talk about their feelings and experiences, or get advice or help.

We hope you can talk to your Foster Carer, Social Worker, or another adult that you can trust.   If they don’t quite know the answer, then they will help you find someone who does.

There are some helpful organisations for young people to contact for advice or help.

Childline is a free helpline for children and young people to call and tallk about any problem  (http://www.childline.org.uk)

A National Voice - Run by and for care experienced young people.   Their main aim is to create positive change to the care system.   Young people can join in and take part(http://www.anationalvoice.org/)

 

 


Connexions Direct - For information about at what age you can do certain things, eg get a job, go to a pub and advice on how to move into adult life

 

>>> Your Social Worker, Teacher and Foster Carer can all help you make a complaint.

If you need to complain about your foster placement, you can complain directly to Cornerways by telling the Fostering Social Worker who visits your carers, or your own Social Worker, or you can call the Cornerways Fostering Manager at the office on:      01293 826830.

Other ways you can be helped to make a complaint are through:

VCC: Voice of the Child in Care If you are unhappy about decisions made about your care, you could contacc VCC and speak to an advocate.   An advocate is a person who speaks up for another person.    0808 800 5792    www.vcc-uk.org

Ofsted Ofsted inspects Cornerways Fostering Services and other services for children and young people.   You can make a complaint to them:
