WHO ARE WE?

Cornerways Fostering Services has team of experienced social work and administrative staff working together to recruit, assess, develop, supervise and support Cornerways Foster Carers. As a team we are committed to providing the best care possible for children and young people and we work closely with our foster carers to achieve this. We aim to continuously update our knowledge and skills through ongoing social work training and development and as a team work to a shared ethos of promoting the wellbeing and safety of children and young people in foster care, their foster carers and foster families.

THE TEAM!

Fiona is the Fostering Services Manager, and Registered Manager for Cornerways Fostering Services. Fiona has managed the service since it began in 2003, having previously worked in a large local authority for many years as a children’s social worker, fostering and adoption social worker and as a Fostering Team Manager.  She is a qualified social worker, holds a Practice Teacher qualification, PQ 2-5 Award in Family Placement and Level 5 Diploma in Management.

Sharon joined Cornerways Fostering Services in 2004, she is a social worker additionally qualified with the Post Qualifying Specialist Award in social work and able to provide practice placements for student social workers. Within the Team she has a senior role and has a particular lead in developing and delivering our fostering services for parents and babies/children placed together.  Her previous background is as a foster carer with an interest in how psychology can help foster carers and the children they care for.

Ellen is a social worker with many years experience as a local authority children’s social worker, in child protection and with Looked After Children, she joined Cornerways Fostering in 2007. She holds the Post Qualifying Child Care Award and is qualified to provide placements for student social workers. Her particular interest is in assessment and empowerment of carers and communication and interaction with children and young people.

Lyn joined Cornerways in 2008 as a social worker with many years experience in local authority child protection services including undertaking joint investigations with the Police. She holds the Post Qualifying Child Care Award and has a particular interest in delivering child protection training and development to foster carers. She is undertaking ongoing training with the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Service (CEOPS)

Leonie is a social worker with many years of local authority experience in child protection and in Adoption and Permanence. She joined Cornerways Fostering Services in 2010. Leonie is undertaking the Post Qualifying Specialist Award in Social Work, her particular interest is in attachment disorders linked to post-traumatic stress and how foster carers can be supported in helping the children they care for overcome these issues.

Stacey joined Cornerways in 2010 as an experienced fostering social worker, having previously worked in a senior role within learning disability services and fostering services and having managed a mother and baby unit. Stacey is an accredited Practice teacher for student social workers. Her interests are in attachment theory as well as promoting identity and diversity.

Nicola joined Cornerways in 2011 as a newly qualified social worker having experienced work in our fostering team while on placement as a student social worker. Prior to training as a social worker Nicola worked as a social services administrator. Her interest is in working with foster carers to enhance children’s life chances.

Alison and Gill undertake the administration of the Fostering Service, Alison also fulfils the role of Fostering Panel Administrator. Alison’s background is in NHS administration while Gill’s background has been in office management and more recently as a Registrar of Births Marriages and Deaths, she also has qualifications in Nutrition.
